Takeda has appointed Hannah Badri as Vice President and Head of Communications for International, based in Zurich, adding senior communications leadership as the pharmaceutical company continues to navigate a period of global transformation.

Hannah announced the move as a new chapter in her career, highlighting Takeda's scientific heritage and its focus on bringing advances in science to patients around the world.

Her appointment comes as Takeda continues to reshape its organisational structure, including the establishment of an International Business Unit responsible for markets outside the U.S.

Leading International Communications

As VP and Head of Communications for International, Hannah will work across Takeda's international business, supporting how the company communicates its scientific progress, business priorities and work with patients and communities.

The international remit is significant within Takeda's current structure. The company established its International Business Unit to oversee markets outside the U.S., with the unit led by Giles Platford.

Hannah's communications role therefore sits within a broader international organisation designed to bring greater alignment and speed to Takeda's operations across global markets.

Communicating Scientific Innovation

A key theme in Hannah's announcement is the relationship between scientific progress and patient impact.

Takeda operates across areas including gastrointestinal and inflammation, rare diseases, plasma-derived therapies, oncology, neuroscience and vaccines. The company describes its focus as discovering and delivering life-transforming treatments while advancing new treatment options for patients.

For a global pharmaceutical company, communicating developments in science requires balancing technical complexity with clear narratives that can connect with patients, healthcare professionals, employees and wider stakeholders.

That will be an important dimension of Hannah's international communications remit.

A New Chapter at a Transforming Takeda

Hannah joins Takeda at a time when the company is implementing significant organisational changes.

In January 2026, Takeda announced a new structure designed to drive greater speed, competitiveness and future growth. The changes included the creation of the International Business Unit, a new Strategy & Portfolio Development function and a Transformation Office covering transformation initiatives including AI.

The changes reflect a broader effort to simplify the organisation while maintaining its focus on research, innovation and patients.

Hannah's appointment adds communications leadership during this period of organisational and strategic change.

Connecting Global Teams and Markets

Based in Zurich, Hannah's role will have an international orientation across Takeda's markets.

Her announcement also acknowledged colleagues across the world with greetings in languages connected to her personal heritage, reflecting the multicultural nature of the role and the global audiences that international communications must engage.

For Takeda, maintaining a consistent narrative across markets while allowing communications to reflect local audiences will be an important part of building trust around its science, people and business.

The Communications Opportunity

As scientific innovation continues to reshape the pharmaceutical industry, communications leaders increasingly play a role in translating complex developments into stories that stakeholders can understand and engage with.

Takeda's long history, global footprint and expanding focus on scientific innovation create a broad communications landscape for Hannah to navigate.

Her appointment brings together international communications, healthcare and corporate storytelling at a time when Takeda is positioning itself for its next phase of growth and transformation.

Building the Next Chapter

Hannah's move to Takeda marks the beginning of a new chapter focused on international communications within one of the world's long-established pharmaceutical companies.

With Takeda continuing to evolve its organisational structure and strengthen its international business, her role will contribute to how the company communicates its scientific progress and broader transformation to audiences around the world.
