International Data Corporation (IDC) has appointed Avi Bhagtani as Chief Marketing Officer, bringing an experienced AI and enterprise technology marketer into the company’s leadership team as IDC sharpens its positioning for the AI economy.
Avi joins IDC after serving as Chief Marketing Officer at Digitate, where he spent more than five years helping drive the company’s evolution into a SaaS-based agentic IT platform. His background spans AI, intelligent automation, enterprise cloud and product marketing, positioning him for a mandate that extends across IDC’s global marketing organization.
A broader marketing mandate at IDC
At IDC, Avi will oversee the company’s global marketing organization, including go-to-market strategy, brand and market positioning, product marketing and demand generation. His remit comes as IDC increasingly positions itself as the technology intelligence layer of the AI economy.
The appointment gives IDC a marketing leader with direct experience translating complex technology categories into market narratives, while building demand and growth programs around AI-led products and platforms.
From Digitate to IDC
Avi’s move follows a significant period at Digitate, where he served as CMO and was closely involved in the company’s shift toward an agentic IT platform. Digitate’s leadership profile continues to list him as CMO, while IDC’s latest announcement confirms his appointment at IDC.
Before Digitate, Avi held senior marketing and product leadership roles at Automation Anywhere, Broadcom and Meru Networks. His experience has included AI and intelligent automation, enterprise product marketing, cloud computing and technology category development.
Marketing for the AI economy
The timing of the appointment reflects a broader shift in how technology intelligence companies communicate with enterprise buyers. As AI moves from experimentation toward enterprise-scale deployment, research, data and market interpretation are increasingly becoming part of the technology decision-making process.
IDC says it tracks more than 15 billion data points annually, follows more than 800,000 companies and has more than 1,000 analysts globally. The company is also expanding its technology intelligence offering through products such as IDC Quanta, which brings research, data and analyst expertise into enterprise workflows.
Avi’s experience across AI-native marketing, category creation and growth strategy aligns closely with that direction.
Strengthening IDC’s market position
For IDC, the CMO appointment comes as the company works to connect its longstanding research and analyst expertise with the changing needs of enterprise leaders navigating AI adoption.
Avi’s mandate will therefore extend beyond traditional brand marketing. His focus on go-to-market strategy, product marketing and demand generation places marketing closer to IDC’s broader effort to make trusted intelligence more actionable for technology and business leaders.
