Fastly has appointed Earle Carlson as Senior Director, Digital & Growth Marketing, marking a new chapter in his marketing career and adding leadership to Fastly’s global marketing organization.
Earle shared the appointment after taking time away from the workforce, describing the period as an opportunity to spend time with family and pursue interests outside of work before returning to the industry.
Returning to the marketing world
Before joining Fastly, Earle took a deliberate break from work, using the time to focus on family, travel and activities including motorcycle riding, camping, surfing and home projects.
He also spent the period reconnecting with professional relationships and speaking with people across the industry about the changing marketplace and his next career move.
Those conversations ultimately helped shape his decision to join Fastly.
A digital and growth marketing mandate
In his new role, Earle takes on responsibility across digital and growth marketing, placing his work within Fastly’s broader commercial and marketing organization.
The role comes as technology companies increasingly connect digital marketing with measurable growth outcomes, from building awareness and engagement to creating demand and supporting customer acquisition.
Fastly’s marketing organization is led by Chief Marketing Officer Joan Jenkins, who joined the company in 2026 with a mandate focused on accelerating growth and expanding Fastly’s market presence across security, edge computing and AI workloads.
Marketing at the edge of a changing technology market
Earle joins Fastly at a time when the company is operating across several rapidly evolving areas of technology, including edge cloud, application security and AI.
Fastly describes its platform as enabling organizations to build, secure and deliver websites and applications at global scale. The company has also been highlighting the changing nature of internet traffic as AI-generated and machine-driven interactions become a larger part of the digital ecosystem.
That environment creates a broad landscape for digital and growth marketing, with technology buyers increasingly evaluating platforms based on business outcomes as well as technical capabilities.
Building the next phase at Fastly
Earle’s appointment adds another layer of marketing leadership as Fastly continues to develop its market presence.
The company has been investing in growth across its platform and recently highlighted areas including AI-ready infrastructure, application security and digital experiences. Its marketing strategy is increasingly connected to how businesses understand the value of performance, security and scalability across their digital operations.
For Earle, the move provides an opportunity to apply his digital and growth marketing experience within a technology company operating at the intersection of infrastructure, security and the modern internet.
A new chapter at Fastly
Earle described his return to work as a considered next step following several months spent balancing professional conversations with time away from the computer.
His arrival at Fastly marks the beginning of a new chapter focused on digital and growth marketing, with the opportunity to contribute to the company’s continued expansion in a rapidly changing technology market.
