Article content
Amy Weisenbach will join Coursera as Chief Marketing Officer on November 30, 2026. She brings experience in brand development, digital audience growth and performance marketing, having most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer at The New York Times.
At Coursera, Weisenbach will help strengthen how learners discover and engage with educational content, credentials and skills-development opportunities. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as the company builds on its combination with Udemy, bringing together a broad range of university and industry learning resources.
Building engagement through trusted content
During nearly a decade at The New York Times, Weisenbach led marketing across a portfolio spanning News, Games, Cooking, Audio, Wirecutter and The Athletic. Her work combined brand storytelling with performance marketing to attract new audiences, deepen engagement and support digital subscription growth. She also helped introduce products and extend their reach to new audiences.
That experience is relevant to Coursera's challenge of connecting learners with the right educational opportunities in an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing skills market. As artificial intelligence reshapes jobs and career paths, the ability to communicate the value of learning and turn interest into sustained engagement is becoming increasingly important.
A personal connection to education
Weisenbach's experience extends beyond corporate marketing. She has taught brand strategy and consumer behaviour as an adjunct assistant professor at NYU's Stern School of Business and serves on the Board of Trustees at DePauw University.
Her perspective as both a marketer and educator aligns with Coursera's focus on expanding access to learning and helping people develop skills throughout their careers. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in Public Policy from DePauw University.
Marketing through Coursera and Udemy's next chapter
The combination of Coursera and Udemy creates an opportunity to connect a wider range of learners with university-led education, industry expertise and career-oriented training. The combined platforms reach more than 300 million learners and over 12,000 enterprise customers worldwide, according to Coursera.
Weisenbach's appointment signals the importance of marketing in helping learners navigate this expanded offering. Her focus will include building awareness, strengthening relationships with the global learning community and communicating how trusted education can help people move forward in a changing world.
Coursera CEO Greg Hart welcomed Weisenbach, highlighting her experience turning trusted content into a digital business and building consumer demand. Weisenbach has said she looks forward to sharing the stories of Coursera's partners, instructors and learners while encouraging more people to pursue new learning opportunities.
