Michael Chun has joined T-Mobile as Sr. Director, Data Transformation, taking on a leadership role focused on the company’s Commercial & Revenue data organization.

Michael announced the move on LinkedIn, describing his new position as an opportunity to lead the Commercial & Revenue data team while partnering closely with teams across Supply Chain, Billing, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Credit and MSC.

The role brings together data transformation and several functions that play an important part in how a large telecommunications business manages commercial activity, financial processes and revenue-related operations.

Leading the Commercial & Revenue data team

At the center of Michael’s new mandate is the Commercial & Revenue data team.

The team sits across a broad business landscape, connecting data needs with functions that include commercial operations, billing, finance and supply chain.

For a telecommunications company operating at significant scale, bringing greater alignment across these areas can help create more connected data foundations and support better visibility across business processes.

Partnering across critical business functions

Michael’s remit includes close collaboration with Supply Chain, Billing, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Credit and MSC.

That cross-functional scope reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of enterprise data. Commercial and revenue information does not operate in isolation, with downstream implications for financial reporting, billing, credit, tax and operational planning.

By bringing these stakeholders together around a data transformation agenda, Michael will work across multiple parts of T-Mobile’s business.

Data transformation in a telecommunications environment

Telecommunications companies generate large and complex volumes of operational, customer, commercial and financial data.

As operators continue to evolve their businesses, data transformation can play a role in creating more consistent information flows and improving how teams access and use business-critical data.

For T-Mobile, the focus on Commercial & Revenue data connects directly with functions that influence financial performance and day-to-day operations.

A cross-functional leadership mandate

Michael’s new role is notable for the breadth of functions involved.

Rather than being limited to a single technology or data discipline, his mandate requires collaboration across business and corporate functions. This places data transformation within a broader organizational context, where technology, finance, commercial operations and supply chain requirements intersect.

The approach also reflects how data leadership roles are increasingly becoming cross-functional positions within large enterprises.

A new chapter with Team Magenta

Michael said he is excited about what lies ahead with #TeamMagenta as he begins his new role at T-Mobile.

His appointment adds another layer to T-Mobile’s data leadership as the company continues to operate across a highly data-intensive telecommunications environment.

With responsibility for the Commercial & Revenue data team and partnerships spanning multiple functions, Michael’s new role will focus on bringing data transformation closer to the business areas that rely on it most.
