Peter Lee joins Riverbed to lead solutions engineering across APJ

Article content
Riverbed has appointed Peter Lee as Regional Director of Solutions Engineering for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), strengthening its regional technical leadership as enterprises look to simplify IT operations and adopt AI-powered observability.
Peter joins Riverbed after eight years at SolarWinds, where he most recently served as Senior Manager of Solutions Engineering for APJ. He brings more than two decades of experience spanning technical pre-sales, cybersecurity and IT observability, with a background in leading solutions engineering and architecture teams across enterprise, strategic and public sector markets.
In his new role, Peter will build and scale Riverbed’s Solutions Engineering organisation across APJ, working with customers and partners to demonstrate how the company’s technology can help improve visibility across complex IT environments and digital experiences. He will report to Charbel Khneisser, Senior Vice President of Global Solutions Engineering.
The appointment comes as enterprises increasingly seek to connect technology investments with operational outcomes, particularly as AI adoption introduces new demands around infrastructure performance, visibility and service reliability.
Bringing technical leadership closer to customer needs
Peter’s experience spans technical sales leadership, customer architecture and regional go-to-market execution. At SolarWinds, he worked across solutions engineering, helping customers understand and address challenges involving observability and IT performance.
That background aligns with Riverbed’s focus on helping organisations move beyond fragmented monitoring tools towards a more unified view of networks, applications and end-user experiences.
As Regional Director of Solutions Engineering, Lee will lead a team responsible for supporting technical sales execution, customer engagement, solution architecture and proof-of-concept activities across APJ. The role also involves working closely with sales, product and executive leadership to align technical strategy with regional business priorities.
For enterprise technology providers, solutions engineering has become an important bridge between product capabilities and customer requirements. As technology environments become more distributed and AI workloads add further complexity, customers increasingly need to understand not only what a platform can do, but how it can work within their existing systems and deliver measurable value.
Peter’s remit places that customer-facing technical expertise at the centre of Riverbed’s regional growth strategy.
Advancing unified observability and AI-driven operations
Riverbed is positioning unified observability and AIOps as central to its vision for Zero Disruption, which focuses on identifying and resolving IT issues faster while helping organisations protect digital experiences.
The company’s platform combines network intelligence, observability and AI-driven insights, extending visibility across applications, infrastructure and mobile devices. These capabilities are designed to help IT teams investigate performance issues, understand root causes and respond before disruptions significantly affect users.
Commenting on his appointment, Peter highlighted the challenge organisations face when technology environments are managed through disconnected monitoring tools.
“Riverbed's combination of network intelligence, observability and AI-driven insights, extending to mobile devices, gives organisations the context to identify issues faster and improve digital experiences,” Peter said. He added that he was looking forward to building a Solutions Engineering team that could demonstrate this value to customers and partners.
His appointment follows Riverbed’s introduction of six products and capabilities earlier in 2026 aimed at advancing autonomous IT operations. These include Riverbed IQ 4.0, its unified intelligence layer for autonomous operations; Riverbed Q, a conversational AI interface for IT teams; AI Assurance for AI observability and governance; and new Aternity capabilities covering Replay 2.0, High Frequency Analytics and APM+.
Together, these developments reflect the company’s focus on expanding visibility, accelerating root-cause analysis and helping IT teams take a more proactive approach to service performance.
A regional mandate spanning technology and execution
APJ encompasses diverse markets, enterprise environments and technology priorities. Building a regional solutions engineering organisation requires technical depth alongside the ability to work across customer segments, partner ecosystems and commercial teams.
Peter’s responsibilities include developing the team’s capabilities, supporting customer and partner engagements, and aligning technical execution with Riverbed’s broader regional strategy.
The appointment also underscores the role of technical leadership as organisations move towards more automated IT operations. AI can help teams interpret large volumes of operational data and identify emerging issues, but successful implementation depends on understanding customer environments, integrating solutions effectively and establishing confidence in the results.
By strengthening its APJ solutions engineering leadership, Riverbed aims to help customers and partners better understand how unified observability and AI can support their operational priorities.
For Peter, the role brings together his experience in technical pre-sales, cybersecurity and observability with a mandate to scale regional engineering capabilities as enterprises pursue more proactive and increasingly autonomous IT operations.
