Jamie White has joined Smith+Nephew as Senior Vice President, Business Transformation, taking on a leadership role focused on how the global healthcare business operates and scales.

In announcing the move, Jamie highlighted the opportunity to contribute to Smith+Nephew’s next phase while supporting the company’s broader ambition under its RISE strategy.

His mandate is centered on strengthening the operating foundations of the business, with transformation positioned around practical improvements in how teams, functions and geographies work together.

Transformation built around the business

For Jamie, business transformation starts with understanding and improving the way the organization operates.

His priorities include establishing common global standards, adopting industry best practices, simplifying processes and creating greater opportunities for automation.

The approach is intended to bring together capabilities across Smith+Nephew’s functions, businesses and geographies while putting operational excellence at the center of execution.

Rather than standardization as an objective in itself, Jamie described transformation as a way to reduce complexity and give the organization greater agility and productivity.

Supporting the RISE strategy

Smith+Nephew’s RISE strategy sets out an ambition to reach more patients, accelerate innovation, scale successful initiatives and execute with greater efficiency.

Jamie’s new role sits directly within that operating agenda. Building the systems and processes needed to support growth will be important as the company works to scale its business while maintaining consistency across a global organization.

The transformation agenda therefore extends beyond individual processes, with a focus on creating an operating environment that can respond faster and execute more effectively.

Simplification and automation as priorities

A significant part of Jamie’s approach is centered on simplifying how work gets done.

Reducing unnecessary complexity, increasing automation and establishing more consistent ways of working can help teams spend less time navigating processes and more time on activities that create value for customers.

For a global healthcare organization, that operational focus also supports the ability to scale practices across different functions and markets while maintaining a consistent foundation.

Creating more capacity for customer value

Jamie also connected the transformation agenda to Smith+Nephew’s broader purpose of helping more patients live Life Unlimited.

By improving productivity and removing operational friction, the objective is to give employees greater capacity to focus on customers, innovation and higher-value work.

That makes business transformation a broader organizational priority rather than a standalone efficiency program.

Building the next chapter at Smith+Nephew

Jamie said he is looking forward to working with colleagues across Smith+Nephew and building on the foundations already in place.

His appointment comes with a clear focus on helping the organization operate with greater consistency, agility and scale as it advances its RISE strategy.

The next phase will bring together global standards, process simplification, automation and cross-functional collaboration as Smith+Nephew continues to evolve how it operates as a global business.
