Wawa has appointed Diane George as Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy, adding marketing leadership as the convenience retailer continues to expand its footprint and deepen its relationship with customers and communities.
Diane shared the move on LinkedIn, describing the opportunity as a chance to build on the strength of the Wawa brand while reaching and delighting more customers. She also highlighted her intention to begin by listening and learning from the people closest to the brand, including Wawa customers and store associates.
Building on a Beloved Brand
Diane's new role places her within a brand that has built a strong connection with customers across its retail footprint.
Wawa operates convenience stores offering fresh food, beverages, coffee, fuel services and other everyday services. The company says it has more than 1,200 locations and continues to expand across new and existing markets.
For the marketing organisation, that scale creates a broad platform for strengthening brand consistency while continuing to evolve how customers experience Wawa.
Putting Customers and Associates at the Centre
Diane's announcement places particular emphasis on listening to customers and store associates as she begins the new role.
That approach reflects the importance of frontline experience in convenience retail, where the brand is experienced through thousands of everyday interactions across stores, digital touchpoints, products and services.
Wawa itself describes its associates as central to the customer experience and places a strong emphasis on putting people first and delighting customers.
Connecting Brand Strategy With Growth
As Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy, Diane will be working at the intersection of brand development, customer engagement and the broader business.
Wawa has continued to expand geographically, entering new markets while maintaining its established presence across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Its current footprint spans Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Washington, D.C.
That expansion gives brand strategy an increasingly important role in maintaining a consistent identity while adapting to new customers and communities.
A Customer-Led Approach to Marketing
Diane's comments suggest that understanding the customer will be an early priority in her new remit.
For a consumer brand with a large physical footprint, customer insight can inform everything from brand communication and product positioning to the experience delivered inside stores.
Wawa's community positioning also extends beyond its retail operations. The company says its associates participate in volunteering, charitable giving and community events, while The Wawa Foundation supports community-focused initiatives.
A New Chapter at Wawa
Diane's move brings her marketing and brand strategy experience to a company entering another phase of geographic and customer growth.
Her focus on listening to customers and associates provides a clear starting point for the new role, while the scale of Wawa's brand creates a broad mandate across customer engagement, brand development and marketing strategy.
As Wawa continues to grow, Diane will be part of the team shaping how the brand connects with customers across both established and emerging markets.
