Unily appoints Kaila Yates as Chief Marketing Officer

Unily has appointed Kaila Yates as Chief Marketing Officer, adding an experienced marketing leader to its executive team as the company continues to expand its position in employee experience technology.

Kaila announced that she will officially join Unily on October 1, describing the move as a new chapter after a career spanning more than 25 years across international marketing leadership, B2B technology and complex commercial environments.

Her background includes senior CMO and advisory roles, as well as recent work as Interim CMO at Zellis, giving her experience across marketing transformation, growth, brand, demand generation and executive-level commercial strategy.

Bringing 25 Years of Marketing Leadership

Kaila's career has centred on helping technology and B2B organisations build marketing functions that connect brand, customer understanding and commercial performance.

Her public profile describes more than 25 years of international marketing leadership, alongside experience working with CEOs, CMOs and boards on enterprise growth, governance and marketing effectiveness.

That experience provides a broad foundation for her new remit at Unily, particularly as enterprise technology companies increasingly need marketing to connect market positioning with measurable business outcomes.

From Interim CMO Roles to Unily

Before joining Unily, Kaila worked as an interim and advisory marketing leader, including a recent assignment as Interim CMO at Zellis.

During her time there, she worked with the marketing organisation during a period of leadership and business change. She later described the experience as an opportunity to work with the Zellis team while supporting the company's next phase under its new leadership.

Her experience in interim leadership has also shaped her perspective on how senior marketing leaders can enter organisations, understand the commercial context quickly and create alignment across teams.

Marketing as a Commercial Leadership Function

Kaila's recent thinking has consistently focused on the role of marketing beyond campaigns and communications.

In a March 2026 article, she argued that senior marketing roles increasingly require influence across the organisation because brand perception and commercial outcomes are shaped by product, sales, pricing, customer experience and leadership decisions as well as marketing itself.

That perspective is relevant to her new role at Unily, where marketing sits within a technology category closely connected to employee experience, workplace transformation, internal communications and organisational performance.

Joining an AI-Native Employee Experience Platform

Unily positions itself as an AI-native employee experience platform designed to help organisations improve productivity, alignment, engagement and employee empowerment across distributed workforces.

The company serves enterprise organisations across sectors including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and hospitality.

As AI becomes increasingly embedded in workplace technology, Unily is positioning its platform around the intersection of employee experience, enterprise AI and organisational productivity.

Kaila's background in technology marketing and her recent focus on how organisations communicate value in increasingly complex buying environments provide relevant experience for that market.

Connecting Brand, Growth and Market Understanding

Kaila has also written about the changing relationship between marketing, buyers and AI-driven discovery.

In a recent article, she argued that organisations need to think beyond how they appear in AI search and consider what AI systems actually understand and communicate about their businesses.

That broader view of marketing connects brand, positioning, content, customer understanding and the signals an organisation creates across its commercial ecosystem.

At Unily, those themes become particularly relevant as the employee experience market evolves and enterprise buyers increasingly assess technology through a combination of traditional research, peer recommendations, digital channels and AI-powered discovery.

A New Chapter at Unily

Kaila's move to Unily brings together her experience across technology marketing, executive leadership, growth and marketing transformation with a company operating in a rapidly developing enterprise technology category.

Her appointment comes as Unily continues to develop its AI-native approach to employee experience and expand its position with enterprise customers.

From October 1, Kaila will take on the CMO role as Unily looks to build on its technology platform and its position in the evolving employee experience market.
