Snowflake Announces Intent to Acquire Natoma to Strengthen Secure Enterprise AI Connectivity

Article content
Snowflake has announced its intent to acquire Natoma, a move designed to strengthen secure enterprise AI connectivity and governance for the emerging agentic enterprise.
Natoma specializes in enterprise Model Context Protocol (MCP) infrastructure that helps organizations securely connect AI agents with enterprise systems, applications, APIs, and databases. Through the acquisition, Snowflake aims to establish a native governance and identity layer for AI agents and MCP tool access across enterprise environments.
According to Snowflake CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy, enterprises increasingly require AI systems that are not only intelligent but also governed, secure, and auditable. The company believes AI agents need structured permissions, policy controls, and secure access management to safely operate inside enterprise ecosystems.
The acquisition will allow Snowflake customers to securely connect platforms such as Snowflake Intelligence, Cortex Agents, and Cortex Code to SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, on-premise systems, internal APIs, and collaboration platforms through a verified library of MCP servers.
Natoma’s platform also enables organizations to combine trusted Snowflake data with enterprise context from tools like Slack, CRM platforms, Jira, email systems, and internal applications, helping AI systems deliver more actionable and context-aware outcomes while maintaining governance and auditability.
Industry experts increasingly view governance and security as critical barriers to large-scale enterprise AI adoption. Snowflake noted that many organizations still struggle with shadow AI risks, fragmented governance, and secure orchestration of autonomous AI agents across business systems.
The acquisition further strengthens Snowflake’s broader strategy of positioning itself as a trusted control plane for enterprise AI infrastructure and agentic workflows. The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.
