WatchGuard Technologies is strengthening its cybersecurity partner network in Fiji as Datec Fiji achieves WatchGuardONE Gold Partner status. The milestone recognises Datec’s investment in technical expertise and its efforts to expand local cybersecurity capabilities.

Datec’s team holds WatchGuard technical certifications across Endpoint Security, Network Security, Identity Security and Secure Wi-Fi, alongside Secure Wi-Fi Sales certifications. The company is continuing to develop its capabilities through additional certifications, training for pre-sales and account management teams, and engineering development.

The partnership combines WatchGuard’s cybersecurity technology with Datec’s local market knowledge to support organisations across Fiji and the wider Pacific region.

Building local cybersecurity expertise

WatchGuard’s channel-first approach places local partners at the centre of delivering and managing cybersecurity solutions. Datec’s Gold Partner status reflects its work to develop the technical skills needed to deploy and maintain security technologies for customers across different industries.

Anthony Daniel, Managing Director for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands at WatchGuard Technologies, said Fiji and the wider Pacific represent an important growth opportunity for the company. He highlighted Datec’s investment in technical expertise and its commitment to improving cybersecurity outcomes for customers.

WatchGuard aims to build on the relationship while supporting more local IT providers in expanding their security capabilities and managed services offerings.

A partnership spanning multiple sectors

WatchGuard and Datec have worked together for more than three years, delivering cybersecurity solutions to organisations across Fiji. Their work spans sectors including insurance, government, legal and professional services, information and communications technology, and financial services.

For organisations operating in these sectors, cybersecurity requirements can vary considerably, from protecting business networks and endpoints to managing identities and securing wireless environments. Combining globally developed security technology with local implementation and support can help businesses address these requirements with expertise available in their own market.

Vinit Vishaal Nand, CEO of Datec Fiji, described the Gold Partner milestone as evidence of the capabilities the company continues to build locally. He also pointed to Datec’s more than 40 years of experience serving customers in Fiji and the Pacific.

Expanding managed security services for SMEs

A key area of opportunity for Datec is the expansion of its Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) model across Fiji’s small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) market.

The model is designed to give businesses access to enterprise-grade cybersecurity technology, expertise and ongoing support without requiring them to build and maintain every security capability internally. This approach can be particularly relevant for smaller organisations with limited in-house IT and security resources.

For WatchGuard and Datec, expanding managed services could help broaden access to cybersecurity support while enabling local IT providers to develop recurring service offerings.

Connecting with Fiji’s technology community

WatchGuard and Datec are also scheduled to engage with Fiji’s technology community at the Fiji Tech Summit 2026 on 12–13 November. The companies plan to connect with industry peers to discuss emerging cybersecurity challenges, modern security architectures and regional threat intelligence.

As cybersecurity needs continue to evolve across the Pacific, the partnership highlights the role of local technical expertise, channel development and managed services in helping organisations strengthen their security posture.
