Adobe completes Topaz Labs acquisition to bring AI enhancement deeper into Creative Cloud

Article content
Adobe has completed its acquisition of Topaz Labs, bringing the AI company's specialised video and image enhancement technology into Adobe's creative ecosystem.
Announced by Adobe on September 23, 2026, the completed acquisition is intended to combine Topaz Labs' AI enhancement models with Adobe's existing creative tools and workflows. Topaz Labs will continue operating as a standalone brand, with its apps and models remaining available as standalone products.
Bringing specialised AI into creative workflows
Topaz Labs has developed AI technology focused on improving image and video quality, including recovering detail, enhancing clarity and maintaining consistency across video.
Adobe said the technology has been recognised by filmmakers, photographers and designers and received a 2025 Emmy Award for video technology.
The acquisition gives Adobe another set of specialised AI capabilities that can be integrated into workflows already used by creative professionals.
Topaz technology across Adobe's ecosystem
Topaz Labs' technology is already available through Adobe Firefly and Photoshop, where it can be used to upscale and enhance images and videos while retaining detail and a natural appearance.
Adobe said it plans to bring the technology into more existing workflows, including applications involving archival footage, low-light video, mobile content and AI-generated video.
The integration reflects Adobe's broader approach of bringing specialised AI models into its creative applications rather than requiring users to move between separate tools.
AI for modernising content at scale
The acquisition also has an enterprise dimension.
Adobe highlighted the challenge faced by studios, broadcasters and marketing organisations that hold large libraries of older content that needs to be adapted for modern high-resolution formats.
Topaz Labs' technology can help transform legacy assets into content suitable for contemporary workflows, creating potential applications beyond individual creators and into enterprise-scale content operations.
Keeping Topaz Labs as a standalone brand
While the companies are being brought together, Adobe said the Topaz Labs brand will remain.
Its applications and models will continue to be offered as standalone products, while Adobe plans to optimise the performance of Topaz Labs' models and use its global reach and enterprise relationships to expand awareness of the technology.
Topaz Labs CEO Eric Yang will join Adobe's Digital Video and Audio team as part of the transaction. Adobe also said customers of both companies can expect continuity in the level of support they receive.
Expanding Adobe's creative AI strategy
The acquisition adds another specialised technology layer to Adobe's growing AI portfolio.
For creative professionals, the combination brings enhancement capabilities closer to the applications and workflows they already use. For enterprises, it also creates opportunities to modernise large volumes of existing visual content without treating AI enhancement as a separate production workflow.
Adobe's integration of Topaz Labs therefore extends beyond adding another AI capability. It brings specialised image and video enhancement technology further into the broader creative ecosystem.
