Databricks Acquires Antimatter and SiftD.ai to Power AI-Driven Security Platform

Article content
Databricks has acquired two startups, Antimatter and SiftD.ai, as part of its broader move into enterprise cybersecurity with the launch of its new AI-powered security platform, Lakewatch.
The acquisitions bring in specialized capabilities across secure AI deployment and large-scale detection engineering. Antimatter focuses on building secure frameworks for managing access and authentication in AI systems, while SiftD.ai contributes expertise in threat detection and analytics at scale.
Both companies will underpin Lakewatch, a new platform designed to combine Databricks’ data infrastructure with AI agents capable of detecting, investigating, and responding to security threats in real time.
Rather than treating security as a separate layer, Databricks is embedding it directly into its data and AI ecosystem—reflecting a broader shift where security is increasingly tied to how data is stored, accessed, and processed.
The move also highlights the growing role of agentic AI in enterprise security, where autonomous systems are being developed to handle complex threat analysis and response workflows with minimal human intervention.
With these acquisitions, Databricks is positioning itself beyond analytics and AI infrastructure, moving toward a more integrated platform that combines data, intelligence, and security into a single operating layer for enterprises.
