Article content
Gamma has appointed Jean Ellen Cowgill as Head of Marketing, bringing an experienced creative and business leader to the AI-powered visual communication company as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
Jean shared the move on LinkedIn, connecting her decision to join Gamma with a career spent watching technology transform how people create, collaborate, and communicate ideas.
From Presentation Tools to AI-Powered Communication
Jean's career has given her a front-row view of several major shifts in creative technology.
She recalled learning PowerPoint early in her consulting career before experiencing the transition to Google Slides while working at The Atlantic, where real-time collaboration changed how teams worked together.
Later, at Bloomberg Media, she saw the impact of Figma and how easier access to design tools could accelerate creative work. While working with Portrait Creative Network, she also encountered Canva while preparing materials for the organization's first Sundance event.
Those experiences shaped her interest in companies building tools that change how people turn ideas into tangible creative work.
Leading Marketing at Gamma
As Head of Marketing, Jean will help lead Gamma's marketing strategy as the company expands its AI-powered approach to visual communication.
She described Gamma as the next evolution of the creative tools she has encountered throughout her career, combining AI with a new approach to creating presentations and other visual content.
Jean said the company's people were also a major factor in her decision to join, describing the team as passionate, curious, and deeply committed to the product.
A New Chapter After Portrait
Jean has been working with Gamma for several months while completing a transition from Portrait Creative Network, where she previously held a leadership role.
During that period, the Gamma team launched a Broadway-style storytelling show in under eight weeks, giving Jean an early opportunity to work alongside the organization and contribute to its momentum.
Her broader career has focused on transforming organizations, building teams, and turning ideas into execution, experience she now brings to Gamma.
Building for the Next Generation of Creators
Jean sees Gamma as a platform for people who are trying to communicate ideas, build businesses, rally teams, and bring ambitious projects to life.
Her focus will be on helping Gamma connect with that community while strengthening the company's brand and marketing as the AI-powered creative tools market continues to evolve.
She thanked Grant Lee and Kristin Fracchia for the opportunity and expressed enthusiasm for what lies ahead as Gamma heads into a major fall season.
Looking Ahead
The rise of generative AI is reshaping how people create presentations, documents, designs, and other forms of visual communication.
With Jean joining as Head of Marketing, Gamma is adding a marketing leader whose career has closely followed the evolution of creative technology, from traditional presentation software to collaborative design platforms and now AI-native creation tools.
