HDI Global US appoints John Flannery as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer

Article content
HDI Global US has appointed John Flannery as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, adding senior marketing and communications leadership as the insurer continues to build its presence in the US market.
John joins HDI Global from Vantage Risk, where he held the same title. He brings more than two decades of experience across commercial insurance, corporate specialty markets, marketing and communications.
Leading Marketing and Communications
In his new role, John will lead internal and external communications for HDI Global US, with a focus on strengthening engagement with brokers, clients, employees and media.
He will report to Chief Commercial Officer Uwe Schoberth, placing the marketing and communications function closely alongside HDI Global US's commercial and distribution priorities.
Building HDI Global's US Market Presence
John's appointment comes as HDI Global US builds out its leadership team and works to expand its position in the US commercial and specialty insurance market.
The company has recently appointed Shadi Albert as CEO of HDI Global US and Uwe Schoberth as Chief Commercial Officer. HDI has positioned these leadership changes within its broader Xcelerate29 strategy.
John's role adds a dedicated marketing and communications perspective to that leadership structure, with responsibility for how HDI communicates its capabilities, strategy and value proposition to the market.
Bringing Insurance Sector Experience
Before joining HDI Global, John served as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at Vantage Risk. His earlier experience includes senior marketing and communications roles at AIG, Validus Group and XL Catlin.
That background gives him experience across the insurance and reinsurance landscape, as well as familiarity with communicating complex risk and underwriting propositions to industry audiences.
Supporting the Xcelerate29 Strategy
HDI Global's US expansion is taking place within its wider Xcelerate29 strategy, which the company has described as a framework for scaling its global business.
Shadi Albert said his appointment as CEO of HDI Global US came at a point when the organisation was executing Xcelerate29 and looking to build its next chapter in the US market.
For John, the new position provides an opportunity to shape the narrative around that strategy while connecting HDI's capabilities with brokers, clients and other stakeholders across the US market.
A New Chapter at HDI Global US
John described the move as a new chapter in his career, noting that he had been following HDI's trajectory and saw the timing as an opportunity to help sharpen the company's voice in the US.
His appointment comes as HDI Global US continues to assemble its leadership team and define how it wants to position itself in a competitive commercial insurance market.
With marketing and communications now aligned closely with the company's commercial organisation, John will play a role in shaping how HDI Global US communicates its strategy, expertise and market proposition.
