Unilever has appointed Darren Farinas as Associate Director, Media Procurement, marking a new chapter for the media and procurement professional following seven years at WPP.
Darren previously worked closely with Unilever during his time at WPP, giving him familiarity with the company's business, media ecosystem, and partner relationships before making the move in-house.
Bringing Agency Experience In-House
As Associate Director, Media Procurement, Darren will contribute to Unilever's media procurement activities, supporting the company's approach to media partnerships, investment, and value creation across its global brand portfolio.
His previous experience at WPP provides an agency-side perspective that can help strengthen collaboration between Unilever and its media and marketing partners.
Darren described the move as a privilege and expressed his appreciation for the colleagues and partners who supported him throughout his career journey.
Building on Seven Years at WPP
Darren's transition follows seven years at WPP, where he developed extensive experience within the media and advertising ecosystem and worked directly with Unilever.
Moving from agency to advertiser represents an opportunity to bring that experience into a new environment while developing a deeper understanding of Unilever's business and procurement priorities.
Looking Ahead
Darren said he is looking forward to contributing, continuing to learn, and making an impact in his new role.
His appointment comes as major advertisers continue to place greater emphasis on media efficiency, strategic partnerships, transparency, and maximizing value from increasingly complex media investments.
