Article content
Clinique has appointed Krista Berger as Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, adding an experienced brand leader as the skincare and cosmetics company looks to strengthen its global relevance and connect with a new generation of consumers.
Krista joins from Mattel, where she most recently served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Barbie and Dolls. Her work included shaping global brand strategy around Barbie The Movie, which became a major cultural moment for the iconic brand.
At Clinique, she will lead global marketing strategy, with a focus on breakthrough innovation, modernised communications and strengthening the brand’s connection with consumers worldwide.
From Barbie to Clinique
Krista’s experience at Mattel spans global brand strategy, consumer engagement and the challenge of keeping established brands relevant to new audiences.
As Global Head of Barbie and Dolls, she played a pivotal role in shaping the brand strategy surrounding Barbie The Movie. The film’s cultural impact demonstrated how a long-established consumer brand could extend its relevance beyond products into entertainment, storytelling and broader cultural conversations.
That experience provides a foundation for her new role at Clinique, where brand heritage and evolving consumer expectations will both be important considerations.
Leading Clinique’s Global Marketing Strategy
As Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, Krista will lead Clinique’s global marketing organisation and help shape the brand’s next phase of development.
Her remit includes accelerating product innovation, modernising communications, strengthening cultural relevance and translating creative strategy into sustained commercial growth and consumer recruitment.
The role also involves working with regional and affiliate teams around the world to develop campaigns that maintain a consistent global brand identity while remaining relevant to local markets.
Reconnecting Established Brands With New Audiences
One of the central challenges for established consumer brands is maintaining recognition while adapting to changing expectations, shopping behaviours and cultural conversations.
Krista’s experience at Mattel has included working with brands that have longstanding recognition but must continue to evolve to reach new generations.
At Clinique, that balance will be relevant as the brand looks to build on its heritage in skincare and makeup while modernising how it communicates with consumers and presents its products across markets.
Experience in Brand Transformation
Earlier in her career, Krista led the turnaround of American Girl, another Mattel brand. That work involved reconnecting the brand with its core purpose while modernising its narrative and strengthening commercial fundamentals across areas including pricing, distribution and talent.
Her experience across both Barbie and American Girl reflects a combination of creative brand development and commercial execution.
That mix is relevant to Clinique’s global marketing priorities, which bring together brand positioning, innovation, consumer engagement and business growth.
Marketing at the Intersection of Innovation and Culture
Clinique’s global marketing strategy will need to connect product innovation with how consumers discover, understand and engage with beauty brands.
The company’s positioning around dermatologist-guided, allergy-tested and fragrance-free skincare and makeup gives it an established product proposition. The opportunity for its marketing organisation is to communicate that proposition through contemporary campaigns and consumer experiences that resonate across generations and markets.
Krista’s appointment places her at the centre of that effort, bringing experience in global brand management and culturally relevant storytelling to the role.
A New Chapter for Clinique
Krista joins Clinique as the brand continues to develop its global marketing approach and strengthen its relevance with consumers around the world.
Her experience building and evolving established brands at Mattel brings a perspective shaped by storytelling, innovation and commercial strategy.
As she takes on the role, the focus will be on connecting Clinique’s brand heritage with new consumer expectations while supporting its next phase of global growth.
