Axel Deininger appointed Chief Innovation Officer at Utimaco

Utimaco has appointed Axel Deininger as Chief Innovation Officer, reinforcing its focus on advancing cloud-based security services and AI-driven cybersecurity capabilities.
In this role, Axel will lead innovation initiatives as the company expands its portfolio across encryption, key management, and digital trust technologies. The move aligns with Utimaco’s strategy to accelerate the transition toward scalable, service-led security solutions in an increasingly complex threat landscape.
Axel brings extensive leadership experience spanning cybersecurity, mobile security, and semiconductor technologies. Axel most recently served as CEO and member of the management board at secunet Security Networks, where Axel led strategic growth and innovation efforts.
Prior to that, Axel spent over a decade at Giesecke+Devrient as Senior Group Vice President, contributing to the development of secure digital infrastructure solutions. Axel’s earlier career includes roles at Samsung Semiconductor, Infineon Technologies, and Siemens, building deep expertise across both hardware and software security ecosystems.
Axel’s appointment highlights Utimaco’s continued investment in innovation-led leadership as organisations increasingly adopt cloud-native and AI-enabled security frameworks. With cybersecurity evolving rapidly, the ability to integrate advanced technologies into trusted digital infrastructure is becoming a key differentiator.
