Amplitude has appointed Angela Ferrante to lead its marketing organization, adding senior marketing leadership as the company enters a new phase shaped by artificial intelligence, product experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.

Angela announced the move after joining the company, describing the opportunity as a deliberate decision to return to an operating role after considering whether she would become an employee again.

Building Marketing for an AI-Driven Software Market

A major factor behind Angela's decision was the changing nature of software development.

AI is making it increasingly easy for teams to build and ship products. That creates a different challenge for businesses: understanding what customers actually value and creating systems that allow teams to continuously build, measure, learn, and improve.

Angela sees Amplitude and Statsig as sitting at the center of that shift, with product analytics and experimentation becoming increasingly important to the way software companies make decisions.

She described the opportunity around creating a “self-improving” product loop, where data and experimentation help organizations understand user behavior and continuously improve what they build.

A Builder's Approach to Marketing

Angela also pointed to Amplitude CEO Spenser Skates' approach to the business as a major reason for joining.

She highlighted his willingness to reduce unnecessary process, move quickly, listen to feedback, and rethink how the marketing organization should operate.

That philosophy aligns with Angela's own approach to leadership. Rather than focusing solely on managing increasingly large teams, she has emphasized her preference for building, creating, and staying close to the work.

The Rise of the Builder Executive

Angela's move also reflects a broader shift in how senior marketing roles are evolving.

AI is changing not only what marketers can accomplish but also how teams divide responsibilities between thinking, building, executing, and decision-making.

For marketing leaders, that could mean smaller, more agile organizations supported by AI tools and increasingly capable of moving from strategy to execution at a much faster pace.

Angela described this evolution as part of a broader transformation of the executive role, arguing that modern leaders can increasingly combine strategic leadership with hands-on building.

Looking Ahead at Amplitude

Angela joins Amplitude at an important moment for the company as AI changes the economics and speed of software development.

With organizations able to build more quickly, the ability to understand users, validate ideas, and continuously optimize products becomes increasingly valuable.

Her mandate will be to help shape Amplitude's marketing organization for that environment while bringing a builder mindset to the company's next phase of growth.
