Bengaluru-based Karta AI has raised $3 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered customer service platform for banks, lenders, fintech companies and insurers. The round was co-led by PeerCapital and Cedar Hill Capital, with participation from WYSER, CDM Capital and Seedstars.

Founded in 2024 by former Razorpay executives Vijaypal Singh and Abhishek Kushwaha, Karta AI develops agentic voice AI systems designed to handle complex inbound customer conversations. The company aims to move beyond conventional voice bots that answer routine questions, enabling AI agents to understand multiple customer needs within a single conversation and take action across enterprise systems.

Automating complex customer interactions

Inbound calls can be particularly challenging for financial institutions because customers may raise several issues at once, requiring information from different systems and multiple steps to resolve. Karta AI focuses on these more complex interactions, including loan servicing, account queries and other customer support workflows.

Its platform combines voice AI with a predictive context engine designed to retain conversational context, draw on organisational knowledge and execute workflows through integrations with enterprise systems. The company also supports customer communications across voice, chat, email and WhatsApp.

Scaling a growing voice AI platform

Karta AI says its platform handles approximately two million customer conversations each month across more than 25 languages. According to the company and its investors, its AI agents can resolve around 70% of borrower queries end to end in certain deployments, with reported servicing cost reductions of approximately 50%. These figures reflect reported outcomes rather than independently verified results.

The startup's customers include businesses across financial services and other sectors. Its focus on complex, multi-step interactions is intended to help institutions automate more than basic frequently asked questions while bringing human support into conversations that require additional judgement or intervention.

Funding product development and distribution

Karta AI plans to use the new capital to strengthen its automation and multilingual capabilities, expand deployments with financial institutions, and grow its engineering and go-to-market teams. The company is also working to develop reusable, industry-specific capabilities and improve how its AI agents learn from customer interactions.

The funding comes as financial institutions explore AI agents to manage growing customer service volumes, improve responsiveness and reduce operational costs. However, deploying AI in financial services also requires strong controls, reliable system integrations and appropriate escalation paths for sensitive or high-risk cases.

For Karta AI, the next phase will centre on extending its technology to more institutions and customer journeys while demonstrating that complex inbound interactions can be automated reliably at scale.
