Boston Dynamics has appointed Rohit Prasad as Chief Executive Officer, bringing new leadership to the robotics company as the industry moves toward broader commercial adoption of intelligent robotic systems.

Rohit began his tenure as CEO with a focus on customers, partners, manufacturing and the company's growing team, describing the opportunity as a pivotal moment for what he calls Physical AI.

The appointment comes as Boston Dynamics continues to develop robots designed to operate in real-world environments, with platforms including Spot, Stretch and Atlas demonstrating the company's ambitions across industrial and commercial applications.

A new leadership chapter at Boston Dynamics

Rohit's appointment marks a new chapter for a company that has played a significant role in the development of modern robotics.

Boston Dynamics has evolved from a research-focused robotics organization into a commercial enterprise developing systems intended for practical use across industries.

For Rohit, the opportunity comes after more than two decades of watching the company's development while based in the Boston area. He described joining the company as an opportunity to contribute at a pivotal point in the evolution of Physical AI.

Focusing on Physical AI

The convergence of artificial intelligence and robotics is creating new possibilities for machines to perceive environments, make decisions and perform increasingly complex physical tasks.

Boston Dynamics is positioned directly within this shift, combining advanced robotics with increasingly capable AI systems.

Rohit's early focus as CEO will include working with customers to understand complex operational challenges and identifying opportunities where intelligent robotic systems can deliver practical value.

Building on a strong leadership foundation

Rohit also recognised Boston Dynamics' leadership team and specifically thanked Amanda McMaster, the company's CFO, who served as Interim CEO during the leadership transition.

He credited Amanda and the wider leadership team with maintaining a strong foundation for the company's next phase.

That continuity provides Rohit with an established platform as he takes responsibility for the company's strategy, operations and relationships with customers and partners.

Scaling robotics with Hyundai Motor Group

Manufacturing scale will be another important element of Rohit's remit.

Boston Dynamics is part of Hyundai Motor Group, giving the robotics company access to a broader industrial ecosystem as it works to expand the production and deployment of its robotic systems.

Rohit highlighted collaboration with the Hyundai Motor Group family as one of his priorities, particularly around scaling manufacturing.

For a robotics company moving from individual deployments toward broader commercial adoption, manufacturing capability will be an important part of translating technical advances into real-world impact.

Spot, Stretch and Atlas

Boston Dynamics' existing robot portfolio provides a foundation for Rohit's leadership.

Spot is designed for mobile inspection and data collection in environments where remote or autonomous operation can support workers. Stretch focuses on warehouse operations, including the movement of cases and materials. Atlas represents the company's work toward highly capable humanoid robotics for industrial environments.

Together, the platforms illustrate the range of physical tasks Boston Dynamics is seeking to address as robotics becomes more integrated into workplaces.

For Rohit, seeing these systems perform real-world tasks provides a direct connection between the company's technology and its broader mission of developing robots that can enrich human lives.

The next phase of intelligent robotics

Rohit's arrival comes at a significant moment for the robotics industry.

Advances in AI are changing expectations around what robots can perceive, understand and accomplish, while manufacturers and other enterprises are increasingly exploring how physical automation can address operational challenges.

Boston Dynamics enters this period with established robotic platforms, an experienced leadership team and the backing of Hyundai Motor Group.

For its new CEO, the immediate priority is to turn that foundation into the next stage of commercial and technological progress.
