Rashi Peripherals Limited (RP tech) has announced a strategic joint venture with Japan-based Restar Corporation to strengthen its embedded and semiconductor business in India, marking a significant step in expanding its presence within the country's rapidly growing semiconductor ecosystem.

Under the agreement, RP tech will transfer its semiconductor business into a wholly owned subsidiary headquartered in Bengaluru, along with a step-down subsidiary in Singapore. Restar Corporation will acquire a 26% equity stake, while RP tech will retain 74% ownership. The joint venture is expected to commence operations in October 2026.

Accelerating Semiconductor Innovation

The partnership combines RP tech's nationwide distribution network and customer relationships with Restar Corporation's semiconductor expertise, supplier ecosystem, and engineering capabilities.

The new entity will focus on delivering advanced image sensing solutions for industrial and automotive applications, supported by localized engineering, design services, and field application engineering tailored to Indian customers.

Initially, the venture will target high-growth industries including automotive, industrial robotics, electronics manufacturing services (EMS), electronics component manufacturing services (ECMS), enterprise surveillance, machine vision cameras, audio-visual technologies, and home appliances.

Building Local Engineering Capabilities

Headquartered in Bengaluru, the joint venture plans to establish operations across five major Indian cities while investing in local engineering talent through direct collaboration with Japanese design experts. The initiative includes plans to recruit more than 50 engineers over the next two years, supporting localized product development and technical services.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen India's semiconductor design and deployment capabilities while enabling customers to access advanced technologies with localized technical support.

Supporting India's Semiconductor Growth

The announcement comes as India continues to expand investments in semiconductor manufacturing and electronics production. By combining technology partnerships with localized engineering and distribution, the joint venture aims to support enterprises adopting advanced semiconductor solutions across manufacturing and industrial automation.

RP tech stated that the partnership aligns with its broader strategy of expanding beyond traditional ICT distribution into high-value enterprise technologies and semiconductor solutions.
