Publicis Groupe to Acquire LiveRamp in $2.2 Billion Deal to Accelerate AI-Driven Data Collaboration

Article content
Publicis Groupe has announced plans to acquire LiveRamp in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $2.2 billion, marking one of the company’s largest strategic technology and data investments in recent years. The acquisition is aimed at accelerating data co-creation capabilities and enabling smarter AI-powered agents across the marketing ecosystem.
The deal reflects Publicis Groupe’s continued push toward becoming a technology-driven marketing and business transformation platform as organizations increasingly prioritize AI-native customer engagement, identity resolution, and privacy-compliant data collaboration.
LiveRamp specializes in secure data collaboration and identity resolution technologies that allow enterprises, publishers, and advertisers to connect datasets across platforms while maintaining privacy and compliance standards. Its platform currently supports data collaboration across more than 25,000 publisher domains and over 500 ecosystem partners globally.
According to the announcement, Publicis will acquire LiveRamp for $38.50 per share, representing nearly a 30% premium over the company’s recent closing share price. The transaction has been unanimously approved by both companies’ boards and is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Accelerating Smarter Agents and AI-Powered Marketing
Publicis Groupe stated that the acquisition will strengthen its ability to develop smarter AI agents powered by proprietary and collaborative data ecosystems. The company sees data co-creation as a critical capability for enabling next-generation AI-powered customer experiences, personalization, and decision intelligence.
Arthur Sadoun, CEO of Publicis Groupe, noted that after the acquisition of Epsilon in 2019, the company is once again positioning itself for the next phase of AI-driven transformation by integrating advanced data collaboration infrastructure into its platform strategy.
Following the acquisition, LiveRamp will continue to operate under CEO Scott Howe, who will report directly to Arthur Sadoun. LiveRamp’s financial results will be reported within Publicis Groupe’s Technology segment alongside Publicis Sapient.
The move also aligns with the growing industry focus on agentic AI systems capable of automating marketing operations, customer engagement, analytics, and personalization using connected enterprise datasets.
Strategic Importance of the Deal
The acquisition highlights the increasing convergence of advertising, enterprise data infrastructure, AI, and cloud-driven personalization platforms.
As marketing organizations move toward AI-native operations, secure access to high-quality first-party and collaborative data is becoming central to enabling scalable personalization and intelligent automation. Publicis Groupe’s acquisition of LiveRamp positions the company to further strengthen its competitive position against global advertising and technology rivals investing heavily in AI-powered marketing ecosystems.
The deal also reflects a broader shift across the advertising and martech industry, where agencies are increasingly evolving into integrated technology, data, and AI transformation partners rather than traditional advertising holding companies.
