Sudhakar Ramakrishna Joins CDK Global as President and CEO

Article content
CDK has appointed Sudhakar Ramakrishna as President and CEO, effective October 5, 2026, bringing an experienced enterprise technology executive to lead the automotive retail software provider into its next phase of growth.
Sudhakar will also join CDK's board of directors, succeeding Brian MacDonald, who will retire from the company and transition into a role as senior strategic advisor to Brookfield and CDK.
The leadership transition comes as CDK builds on a multi-year transformation and increases its focus on AI, analytics, data, and customer intelligence within automotive retail.
Bringing Enterprise Technology Leadership to CDK
Sudhakar brings decades of experience across enterprise technology, having led software businesses spanning cloud, mobility, networking, security, and collaboration.
Before joining CDK, he served as President and CEO of SolarWinds and previously led Pulse Secure. His career also includes senior leadership roles at Citrix, Polycom, Motorola, 3Com, and U.S. Robotics.
His background in scaling technology businesses and commercialising customer-focused products positions him to lead CDK as automotive retail becomes increasingly dependent on connected software, data, and intelligent workflows.
Building on CDK's Transformation
Sudhakar succeeds Brian MacDonald following a multi-year transformation that strengthened CDK's strategy, product roadmap, and financial foundation.
Under the transition, CDK is positioned to build on more than $500 million in investment made over several years to evolve its platform from a system of record toward a system of intelligence and engagement.
That shift reflects the changing role of technology within automotive retail, where dealerships increasingly rely on integrated platforms to manage operations, customer relationships, data, and digital experiences.
Expanding the Role of AI and Data
One of the key opportunities ahead for Sudhakar will be leveraging CDK's industry-specific data and technology infrastructure to support more intelligent automotive retail workflows.
CDK says its platform includes 257 million unique customer IDs, reflecting most U.S. consumers and vehicles represented on its platform. The company sees that data foundation as an opportunity to advance AI, analytics, and customer insights while embedding intelligence into workflows dealerships already use.
The company's current portfolio includes dealership management, digital retail, CRM, payments, fixed operations, data and intelligence, and AI capabilities.
Customer Value at the Centre
Sudhakar's initial priorities will include spending time with CDK's customers, teams, and partners while focusing on innovation, execution, and reliable delivery.
His approach reflects the increasingly competitive environment facing automotive retailers, where technology platforms must deliver measurable operational value while adapting to changing consumer expectations.
For CDK, the CEO transition therefore comes with an opportunity to deepen its role as a technology partner to dealerships rather than simply a provider of core dealership software.
Leading CDK's Next Growth Phase
The appointment places an experienced enterprise technology leader at the helm as CDK continues to evolve its platform and respond to the changing automotive retail landscape.
Sudhakar's combination of software leadership, transformation experience, and customer-focused technology expertise will be central to CDK's next phase as the company looks to expand innovation while maintaining the reliability and industry expertise its dealership customers depend on.
His appointment also marks a new chapter for CDK following Brian MacDonald's tenure and the company's broader transformation under its current ownership.
