Omnicom Media has appointed David McCallen as Asia Pacific Chief Strategy Officer, giving him responsibility for guiding strategic excellence across the region.

The appointment comes as Omnicom Media establishes Strategy as a core discipline within its global operating model, bringing together evidence-based research, cultural understanding and the organisation's connected capabilities to help clients respond to an increasingly complex marketplace.

Strengthening strategy across APAC

In his new role, David will focus on strengthening strategic thinking across Omnicom Media's Asia Pacific operations and helping translate market intelligence, cultural insight and connected capabilities into stronger client outcomes.

The move reflects a broader focus on making strategy a more integrated part of the organisation's operating model, particularly as clients navigate changing consumer behaviour, fragmented media environments and increasing marketplace complexity.

Building on OMD's APAC momentum

Tony Harradine, CEO of Omnicom Media Asia Pacific, said David's appointment reflects the company's commitment to strategic excellence across the region.

Harradine pointed to David's track record in strengthening strategic thinking and delivering transformational outcomes, highlighting the rise of OMD across APAC as an example of that impact.

For David, the appointment represents an opportunity to rethink the role of strategy at a time when clients face increasingly complex business and media environments.

"It's a huge honour to take on this role," David said, adding that the industry needs to reconsider what great strategy looks like and develop models suited to the complexity clients navigate every day.

A broader role for strategic leadership

David's appointment places strategic leadership at the centre of Omnicom Media's regional ambitions. His mandate will involve connecting research, cultural understanding and the wider capabilities of the organisation to create a more cohesive approach to strategy across APAC.

The role also comes at a time when media agencies are increasingly expected to move beyond media planning and buying to provide deeper business, cultural and customer insight.

With strategy being formalised as a core discipline within Omnicom Media's global operating model, David will play a key role in translating that direction into regional execution.
