CrowdStrike appoints Matt Bartley as AI Practice Lead to address emerging AI security risks

Article content
CrowdStrike has appointed Matt Bartley as AI Practice Lead, adding dedicated expertise as organisations confront emerging security and governance challenges associated with the growing use of artificial intelligence.
In announcing his move, Matt highlighted the endpoint as an increasingly important frontier for AI governance. He pointed to the adoption of Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, AI skills and agents within everyday workflows, emphasising the need for organisations to understand how these tools are being used and the risks they introduce.
His new role will involve working with customers, partners and organisations to address these challenges as AI becomes more deeply embedded in business operations.
AI Governance Moves to the Endpoint
As employees increasingly use AI assistants, agents and connected tools, security teams face a broader set of questions about access, permissions, data exposure and oversight.
Endpoints are an important part of this picture because AI tools can interact with local applications, files, credentials and enterprise services. Without appropriate visibility and controls, these interactions can introduce risks that traditional security approaches may not fully address.
Matt's focus reflects the need to extend security oversight to the ways AI is accessed and used across the workforce.
Securing AI Agents and Connected Tools
The growth of AI agents introduces new considerations beyond conventional software deployment. Agents may access business systems, retrieve information and take actions on behalf of users, depending on their configuration and permissions.
MCP, meanwhile, provides a standardised way for AI applications to connect with external tools and data sources. These integrations can expand AI capabilities, but they also make access control, monitoring and governance increasingly important.
Organisations need to understand which AI tools are operating in their environments, what resources they can access and whether their use aligns with security policies.
Working With Customers and Partners
Matt said he looks forward to working with customers, partners and organisations to prepare for the next phase of AI adoption.
This customer-facing focus is relevant as businesses seek practical guidance on governing AI usage while allowing employees to benefit from emerging tools. Security teams must balance innovation with appropriate safeguards, particularly when AI systems interact with sensitive information or business-critical applications.
CrowdStrike's Expanding AI Security Focus
CrowdStrike provides cybersecurity technology designed to protect endpoints, identities, cloud environments and other parts of the enterprise attack surface. Its Falcon platform brings together security capabilities intended to help organisations detect threats, investigate incidents and respond to attacks.
As AI tools become another part of the enterprise environment, securing their access and interactions is an emerging consideration for cybersecurity teams. Matt's appointment reflects the growing attention being given to the relationship between AI adoption, endpoint visibility and security governance.
Preparing for the Next Phase of AI Adoption
The rapid adoption of AI agents and connected tools is creating new opportunities for organisations, alongside questions about how those systems should be governed and secured.
Matt's new role places him in this evolving area, working with customers and partners to help organisations understand emerging risks and strengthen their security posture as AI use expands.
