Commvault has elevated Sarv Saravanan to Chief AI and Business Technology Officer, expanding his responsibilities to include driving AI innovation and advancing the company’s business technology capabilities.
Sarv shared the appointment in a LinkedIn post, outlining a mandate focused on using technology to accelerate innovation, improve productivity and strengthen business resilience. He will also continue to lead innovation and customer experience delivery through Commvault’s Centres of Excellence in India and Cairo.
The expanded remit reflects the growing role of AI in enterprise operations, as technology leaders look to translate emerging capabilities into practical business improvements.
Bringing AI into business operations
In describing his new responsibilities, Sarv highlighted the opportunity to advance Commvault’s internal business capabilities through AI while establishing the company as an example of how organisations can approach technology-led modernisation.
His mandate includes developing AI capabilities that support innovation and productivity, while sharing the company’s experiences and practices to help customers with their own modernisation initiatives.
The approach connects AI innovation with operational outcomes, placing emphasis on how technology can improve the way a business works rather than treating AI adoption as an isolated initiative.
Continuing a focus on customer experience
Sarv joined Commvault in September 2023 as its first Chief Customer Officer, bringing extensive experience in global technology delivery and customer-centric organisations.
In that role, he focused on customer experience across the business, drawing on his background in technology services, consulting and enterprise delivery. His experience includes leading Microsoft’s Global Delivery Center, which worked with major customers and strategic partners on cloud transformation initiatives.
He also held leadership positions at Dell EMC, including responsibilities for Centres of Excellence across Asia Pacific and Japan.
His expanded role brings this background in technology delivery and customer engagement into a broader remit covering AI innovation and business technology.
Connecting global capabilities with innovation
Sarv’s continued leadership of Commvault’s Centres of Excellence in India and Cairo places these operations within the company’s wider innovation and customer experience agenda.
Global technology centres increasingly contribute beyond service delivery, supporting engineering, innovation, customer engagement and the development of capabilities that can be applied across markets.
For Commvault, connecting these capabilities with AI and business technology initiatives creates an opportunity to bring operational experience closer to technology development and customer modernisation efforts.
Technology leadership in the AI era
As enterprises integrate AI into more business functions, technology leadership increasingly involves balancing innovation with practical implementation, productivity and resilience.
Sarv’s expanded responsibilities bring these priorities together within Commvault, combining AI innovation with the business technology capabilities and customer-facing operations needed to support modernisation.
The appointment marks a broader role for Sarv as Commvault continues to develop its approach to AI and enterprise technology.
